Copernic Mobile

Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL

When will Copernic Mobile be shut down?
Copernic Mobile will be shut down on July 31st 2009. The tool has evolved into myCopernic on the Go! and we invite all our users to use this new service.
Why do I need to create an account?
You will need to create a Copernic Mobile account to access your files remotely. This is solely for privacy purposes in order to ensure that you are the only person that can have access to your data.
What are the minimum requirements for Copernic Mobile?
  • A computer with broadband Internet access
  • Microsoft Windows XP or Vista
  • A supported Desktop Search application
  • What are the supported Desktop Search tools?
  • Copernic Desktop Search 2.0 or higher
  • Windows Desktop Search (XP or Vista)
  • What is the list of mobile devices that support Copernic Mobile?
Any device with Internet access and a Web browser should be able to use Copernic Mobile.
How can I uninstall Copernic Mobile?
You can uninstall Copernic Mobile through the Add/Remove Programs option of Windows XP’s Control Panel or through the Programs and Features option of Windows Vista’s Control Panel.
If I uninstall Copernic Mobile, will my Desktop Search application be affected?
No. Copernic Mobile’s installation is entirely independent from the Desktop Search application. Uninstalling it will not alter your Desktop Search application.

    USABILITY

My documents aren’t formatted like the originals on my mobile. Why is that?
When you view a document, its format is adapted to fit your mobile’s display to make it easier to view and faster to load.
Can I download documents from my computer to my mobile device?
Yes. When you are viewing a document that can be downloaded to your device, a download option will appear on your screen. When clicking on the download link, the document will be downloaded to your device if your device supports this document type.
Copernic Mobile tells me to check for updates, but when I do so, nothing happens.
    How can I resolve this?
In some situations, the Copernic Mobile application may not display the update notification after selecting "Check for updates" in the Help menu. To resolve this, simply exit the application and launch it again. The update notification should now be displayed, allowing you to click on it to perform the update.

    SECURITY

I’m concerned about the security of my data. Is this service secure?
A HTTPS version of the mobile web site is available and is the default for iPhone, iPod Touch and PCs when accessing mobile.copernic.com. For other devices, a link is available on mobile.copernic.com to switch to the HTTPS version. Also, communications between the Copernic Mobile application installed on your computer and our servers are encrypted.
How can I change my password?
Log in to http://mobile.copernic.com using your mobile and then click the 'Settings' link at the bottom of the page. From there, use the "Change your password" form.
Can anyone else access my data?
Your data can only be accessed using your account name and password. It is important that you keep this information confidential if you wish to keep the access to your data secure.
Is my data uploaded and saved to a server?
No. Your data will always stay on your personal computer. When data is transferred from your computer to your mobile, it is encrypted and will never be saved to a server.
