Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I have installed Copernic Mobile on my computer but still can’t access my data on my mobile or on another computer. How can I resolve this?
A. Once Copernic Mobile is installed, you must enable it by logging in to your account. When logged in, the service will make your Desktop Search index available through your mobile or any computer on http://mobile.copernic.com. You must have a supported Desktop Search application installed. Don’t forget to leave your computer turned on so your mobile can access your information.

Q. What are the minimum requirements for Copernic Mobile?

  • A computer with broadband Internet access
  • Microsoft Windows XP or Vista
  • A supported Desktop Search application

Q. What are the supported Desktop Search tools?

  • Copernic Desktop Search 2.0 or higher
  • Windows Desktop Search (XP or Vista)

Q. I’m concerned about the security of my data. Is this service secure?
A. An HTTPS version of the mobile web site is available (click the link on mobile.copernic.com). Also, communications between the Copernic Mobile service installed on your computer and our servers are encrypted.

Q. How can I set up my router so that it doesn’t block Copernic Mobile?
A. No setup is necessary. Copernic Mobile will configure the router automatically if needed.

Q. How can I change my password?
A. Log in to http://mobile.copernic.com using your mobile and then click the 'Settings' link at the bottom of the page. From there, use the "Change your password" form.

Q. Can anyone else access my data?
A. Your data can only be accessed using your account name and password. It is important that you keep this information confidential if you wish to keep the access to your data secure.

Q. Is my data uploaded and saved to a server?
A. No. Your data will always stay on your personal computer. When data is transferred from your computer to your mobile, it is encrypted and will never be saved to a server.

Q. How can I uninstall Copernic Mobile?
A. You can uninstall Copernic Mobile through the Add/Remove Programs option of Windows’ Control Panel.

Q. If I uninstall Copernic Mobile, will my Desktop Search application be affected?
A. No. Copernic Mobile’s installation is entirely independent from the Desktop Search application. In the Add/Remove programs option of the Windows' Control Panel, you will see an entry for Copernic Mobile. Simply select this entry to uninstall it without altering the Desktop Search application.

Q. What is the list of mobile devices that support Copernic Mobile?
A. Any device with Internet access and a Web browser should be able to access the service.

Q. My documents aren’t formatted like the originals on my mobile. Why is that?
A. When you view a document, its format is adapted to fit your mobile’s display to make it easier to view and faster to load.

Q. I have unsuccessfully tried logging in to my mobile device a few consecutive times. Can my account be locked?
A. After multiple consecutive unsuccessful login attempts, your account is temporarily locked to ensure the security of your data. It will be unlocked after 10 minutes.

Q. Can I download documents from my computer to my mobile device?
A. Yes. When you are viewing a document that can be downloaded to your device, a download option will appear on your screen. When clicking on the download link, the document will be downloaded to your device if your device supports this document type.
